Inclusion Strategy

At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported and able to succeed, regardless of their individual needs, abilities or background. Our Inclusion Strategy is guided by the Department for Education's vision for a more inclusive mainstream education system and focuses on removing barriers to learning, participation and achievement.

What is Inclusion?

Inclusion means creating a school where all pupils can access learning, develop positive relationships, participate fully in school life and achieve their potential. We aim to identify and address barriers early, ensuring that the right support is available when it is needed.

Our Approach

Our strategy is built around seven key principles of inclusion:

  • Strong leadership and governance that prioritises inclusion.
  • Early identification of needs and evidence-informed support.
  • High-quality adaptive teaching and an accessible curriculum.
  • Opportunities for all children to participate in wider school life.
  • A safe, respectful and nurturing environment where everyone belongs.
  • Positive partnerships with families and external agencies.
  • Continuous improvement of our learning environments and accessibility.

What This Looks Like in Practice

We will:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Identify barriers to learning and participation through assessment, observation and partnership with families.
  • Provide targeted interventions where additional support is required.
  • Use evidence-based approaches to improve outcomes for children with SEND and other additional needs.
  • Promote attendance, wellbeing, engagement and a sense of belonging for every pupil.
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for children.

How We Develop Our Strategy

Our Inclusion Strategy is informed by:

  • The needs of our pupils and school community.
  • Attendance, behaviour, attainment and SEND information.
  • Feedback from pupils, families and staff.
  • Research and best practice guidance from the Department for Education and the Education Endowment Foundation.

Measuring Success

We will regularly review the impact of our inclusion work to ensure that:

  • Barriers to learning are reduced.
  • Pupils make strong progress from their starting points.
  • Attendance and engagement improve.
  • Children feel safe, respected and included.
  • Families are actively involved in their child's education.
  • Staff are confident in meeting a wide range of needs
